With the bottom only 6. 5in.

"With the bottom only 6. 5in. below the ceiling, this fan can go on very low ceilings. But note that the fan blades are right at that bottom and not recessed inside. It's in my cats' room and coordinates with the cat trees with its sisal rope wrap! The brushed gold metal is pretty. The plastic gold fan doesn't have that same sheen, but the color matches well. I put frosted 2w/20w equiv. LED flame e12 bulbs in this, so total lumens of 6 bulbs is 960-1,500- equiv. to a 75-100w incandescent. This is NOT dimmable, so even 40w equivs. will be extremely bright, thus I recommend the 2w LEDs. Comes with a wall bracket, batteries and has buttons for all on/off plus separate light and fan powers, 6 speeds, reverse and forward, 1, 2 and 4 hr. timers, beep on/off. The fan is powerful and blows only directly below, which is typical of fandeliers. The moving air makes a whirring sound at high speeds. I like running it in reverse even in the heat because it makes the air move indirectly all around the room like a gentle breeze. You need a 2nd person to hold the fixture while connecting the wires. It's not heavy, just bulky. There's potential to align the sockets and cross bars exactly as desired in the room because one of the slide screws on the base aligns perfectly with one of the 3 bars' tha's if the base can be attached to the ceiling box in the rotation desired, as the base has limited slots. You should only attach the base to the ceiling itself if you have a joist to screw into. Lovely low-profile fan light with appropriate lumens bulbs."
