I have been wanting a ceiling fan over our kitchen table for a long time, but didn't want one that looks like belongs in a bedroom. It also needed to go with all of the other satin nickel fixtures and the stainless appliances. This was it! While it is mostly polished nickel, with just the fan and light housing satin nickel, it works for me. It is gorgeous! The light is bright and natural and I love the pattern the crystals cast on the ceiling. The fan has 6 speeds and a wind mode that speeds up and slows down (my favorite setting). The reverse spin button is conveniently on the remote, so no climbing up to flip a switch. The instructions are a bit lacking as there are minimal written directions, mostly pictures with numbers that have no key, so if you are not experienced with installing ceiling fans you may want to call in some backup who is. Now for the reasons I deducted a star, which are minor inconveniences but at this price point I did not expect them. 1- the mounting screws that come with it are not good quality. If you have to mount it directly to a joist, as I did, pick up some extra screws ahead of time because the heads will strip out. 2- it did not come with a battery for the remote. This is stated nowhere in the instruction guide. It requires a CR2032 watch type battery so get one ahead of time. 3- the dimmer function on the remote for the light does not work. No biggie for me as it is not so blindingly bright that I need to dim it, but if it has that feature it should work. I am very happy with it and judging by all of the Ooohs and Aaahs we get when people come over, I am not the only one who loves it.
